G.D. Penman writes about queer monsters for a living. He is the author of Call Your Steel, The Year of the Knife, Apocrypha and many other books. He is also a full-time freelance writer and has ghost-written more than 50 books on a wide variety of subjects, although of course he can’t tell you what any of them are. He lives in Scotland with his partner and children, some of whom are human. In those precious few moments when he isn’t writing or parenting he enjoys watching cartoons, playing games, reading more books than should logically fit into a week and complaining about his diet.

He began his writing career at the ripe old age of six, ploughing through a whole three pages of his very first novel before being banned from the computer for using rude words. He briefly attended college where he studied professional writing skills, most of which were rendered immediately obsolete by the internet.

To support his writing habit he has worked a plethora of terrible and not so terrible day-jobs over the years. Including but not limited to: Bartender, Body Piercer, Hormonal Breast Enhancement Salesman, Waiter, Literary Critic, Dishwasher, Receptionist, Call Centre Misery Sponge, Bookseller, Game Designer, Coffee Shop Manager,  VIP Liaison, Masseur and Nutritionist. Like you, he does not know how he had time for all of that.

If you want to be more invasive into his personal life, he jabbers on Twitter almost constantly @gdpenman
